Marcy and Connor’s timeless Texas Capitol engagement session was truly a dream—a perfect blend of elegance, romance, and a bit of nostalgia. When Marcy reached out about engagement photos, I was beyond excited. Not only is she one of my sorority sisters, but we also have a long-running joke about how I was her General Chemistry lab TA and I had to treat her like a student hahaha. Now I am about to be a pharmacist and she is almost down with physical therapy school – it’s crazy to think how far we’ve come :’)

For their session, we started at The Driskill, a historic Austin icon with timeless charm. A quick side note, though – for photographers – if you want to shoot here, you absolutely need to contact them well in advance. I read on another blog post that they were super chill with photographers and you didn’t need a reservation or anything, but they were……. very strict here. We didn’t stay here long because of that, but that worked out because the rest of the locations were incredible. Now back to bragging on my clients <3

I absolutely LOVE a sleek, modern white dress for engagement shoots like this one and I think Marcy did a perfect job of choosing one that paired beautifully with the vintage, timeless look we were going for. Marcy & Connor’s chemistry (lol) was sooooo obvious throughout the session.

After The Driskill, we made our way to the Texas Capitol, where I would 100% recommend for future shoots. There is no fee to shoot there, and if you go first thing in the morning, there is almost nobody there, giving a very quiet and romantic atmosphere. We took advantage of this with playful twirls in the halls and stolen kisses on the grand staircase. The historic corridors framed them beautifully as they laughed and walked hand in hand. There is something so classic about capturing their love story in a place that holds so much history.

While this session was a perfect reflection of Marcy and Connor—timeless, romantic, and vintage—we also wanted to explore the outdoors. I’ll be posting the other half of their engagement session in a different post with a totally different vibe.
